Iran Reveals Draft Agreement Details with the United States

Iranian state media has disclosed new elements of the proposed Memorandum of Understanding with the United States, signaling progress toward a potential breakthrough. According to Mehr News Agency, the draft includes:

- Lifting of U.S. oil sanctions on Iran

- Release of frozen Iranian funds

- U.S. commitment to withdraw forces from around Iran

- Ending the naval blockade on Iranian ports

- Washington’s pledge of “non‑interference in Iran’s internal affairs”

- Reopening of the Strait of Hormuz within 30 days

The report clarifies that negotiations on Iran’s nuclear program and broader economic issues would continue later, while Iran’s ballistic missile program and its support for armed groups are excluded from the current framework.

The draft has not yet been approved by Iran’s senior leadership. The disclosure came just hours after U.S. President Donald Trump suggested a signing ceremony could take place in Europe this weekend, with Vice President JD Vance representing Washington.

If finalized, the agreement could reshape regional dynamics by easing sanctions, reopening trade routes, and reducing military tensions. Yet, the absence of missile and proxy issues highlights the complexity of achieving lasting peace.
