India’s defence preparedness received a major boost this week as the Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO) successfully conducted three consecutive flight tests, showcasing the nation’s ability to counter long‑range ballistic missiles and strengthen anti‑ship strike capability.
Defence Minister Rajnath Singh congratulated DRDO scientists, noting that these achievements place India among an elite group of nations with the capacity to engage threats up to Intercontinental Ballistic Missiles (ICBMs). The tests demonstrated a multi‑layered defence system, where interceptors successfully tracked and neutralized their respective targets, proving India’s readiness against diverse missile threats.
Equally significant was the maiden flight test of the Naval Anti‑Ship Missile – Medium Range (NASM‑MR). This weapon system enhances India’s maritime strike capability, allowing the Navy to engage hostile vessels at medium ranges with precision.
The Minister emphasized that these systems are designed with the latest technologies to address emerging challenges in modern warfare. By integrating advanced sensors, guidance systems, and layered interception, India is building a robust shield against ballistic missile attacks while simultaneously strengthening its naval deterrence.
Together, these demonstrations highlight India’s growing self‑reliance in defence technology and its commitment to safeguarding national security in an increasingly complex strategic environment.
