Tamil Nadu Launches Singappen Special Force to Combat Crimes Against Women

Tamil Nadu Chief Minister Vijay has officially launched the 'Singapppen Special Force', a brand‑new police department dedicated exclusively to preventing and responding to crimes against women and girls. With an initial budget allocation of ₹354 crore, the force is designed to work alongside existing law enforcement systems, strengthening the state’s commitment to women’s safety.  

The new department will emphasize field surveillance, rapid reaction, and preventive policing, ensuring that vulnerable groups receive timely protection and justice. By creating a specialized unit, the government aims to send a strong message that crimes against women will be met with swift and decisive action.  

This initiative reflects a broader vision of modernizing policing in Tamil Nadu, combining specialized training, technology‑driven monitoring, and community engagement. The Singappen Special Force is expected to become a model for other states, showcasing how targeted policing can address pressing social concerns while reinforcing public trust in law enforcement.
