India Crush Afghanistan With Record Innings Victory

India delivered a commanding performance in the one‑off Test against Afghanistan at the Maharaja Yadavindra Singh International Cricket Stadium in Mullanpur, winning by an innings and 300 runs inside three days. This result marks the biggest innings win in Indian Test history, surpassing the previous record set in 2018 against the West Indies in Rajkot, when India triumphed by an innings and 272 runs.

The contest was thoroughly one‑sided, echoing Afghanistan’s Test debut against India in 2018 at Bengaluru, which also ended in a heavy innings defeat within two days. In Mullanpur, India’s batting dominance and relentless bowling attack left Afghanistan with no answers, underlining the gulf in experience and depth between the two sides.

For India, the victory is not just a statistical milestone but also a statement of strength in the longest format. The innings margin reflects the team’s ability to impose itself comprehensively, combining batting firepower with disciplined bowling. For Afghanistan, the match was another reminder of the challenges of competing at the highest level, though their continued exposure to elite opposition remains crucial for their growth in Test cricket.

This record win will be remembered as a landmark in India’s Test history, showcasing the team’s dominance and setting a new benchmark for future performances.
